Quines, Argentina– Despite the sweltering 100 degree heat and brutal climbs along the 201km push from Lujan to Quines, Argentina, the boys from the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team put in a tremendous effort, capped off by American sprinting sensation, Jake Keough, battling for a 7th place finish today in Stage 6 of Argentina’s Tour de San Luis.

Clearly, the heat wasn’t the only thing scorching on the road to Quines. The lightning fast Keough recorded his third top 10 in six days (9th in Stage 1 and 3rd in Stage 2). Stage 6 winner, Elia Viviani (Liquigas-Cannondale) prevailed in the final field sprint, outkicking Juan Jose Haedo (Saxo Bank) and Andrea Guardini (Farnese Vini).

General Manager and Director, Mike Tamayo, was quite complimentary of his squad’s effort, stating, “These guys battled and rode hard today, despite the crashes, heat and climbs, there’s just no quitting. Jonny Clarke was in the break all day, Jeff (Louder) and Jay (Thomson) protected Jake throughout the day, and Jake did a great job in the sprint finish. I’m proud of their effort. The boys really fight for each other. Good to see this early in the season.”

Injury Update:
Robert Förster (Ger), Adrian Hegyvary (USA) and Jeff Louder (USA) were all involved in crashes today, but all are ok.
