Oakland, CA – Momentum Sports Group, the owner and operator of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team, announced today, Thursday, October 4, 2012, that it has named Kristin Sanders to the position of Vice President of Client Services. Sanders joins the Oakland, California based sports management group from Zimmerman Advertising, where she served as a senior account executive for the past two years. A former professional cyclist and NCAA Division I collegiate swimmer at Southern Illinois University, Sanders will combine her athletic background and understanding of sport with her experience and knowledge in the marketing, advertising and client services arena, to provide the Team’s 20 plus sponsors with an additional executive resource tasked with further developing business and partnership opportunities and how the sponsors engage with the Pro Continental outfit.
Commenting on the decision to tap Sanders to this post, Momentum’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Gregory R. Raifman, stated, “We are pleased to have Kristin join our Team and are confident she is going to be a great addition to our management staff, partners and sponsors. Her knowledge and experience in the sport of cycling coupled with her business background provides tremendous value to this organization and helps us continue to grow in the right direction.”
Sanders remarked, “I am excited about this opportunity and eager to get started with Momentum Sports Group and Team UnitedHealthcare. This is an outstanding organization and clearly one of the most professionally run in the sport. It is an honor to be part of this group now and I am looking forward to many great years ahead working alongside the staff, riders, partners and sponsors.”
In addition to its success on the bike, throughout the course of the past two years, Team UnitedHealthcare has made a concerted effort improve the lives and empower the communities where the Team and its sponsors race and do business. As part of its quest to help people lead healthier lives, the athletes and staff participate in more than 80 local events per year across the United States. Sanders will play an important role in furthering that mission by working alongside the current Momentum Communications & Events team. Sparked by what was arguably the best and most impressive two month racing block in Team history with the results achieved in August and September 2012 at the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah, Tour of Portugal, USA Pro Cycling Challenge, and Tour of Britain; Momentum Sports Group enters the 2013 season optimistic about the direction the Team is headed both on and off the bike. The 2012 campaign was capped off with Hilton Clarke and the Team winning the National Criterium Calendar (NCC) Series at the TD Bank Mayor’s Cup in Boston. In 2012, the Team won 18 races, landed on the podium 51 times and finished in the top 10 of major US and international stage races 79 times.
