USA Cycling Selects Three Blue Train Riders for 2014 UCI Track World Championships
UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team riders Cari Higgins, Lauren Tamayo (2012 Olympic Silver Medalist), and Ruth Winder have been selected to represent the United States in the Team Pursuit discipline at the 2014 UCI Track World Championships in Cali, Colombia.
UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team has a proud history of supporting the US National Team and values working closely with USA Cycling to develop world-class talent, on the road and the track. The team and its sponsors have been committed to helping these riders improve, whether by accommodating track training and race schedules or providing intensive aerodynamic testing at the FASTER wind tunnel in Scottsdale, Arizona during team training camp this January.
“We are very proud to have three riders make the Worlds selection for Team USA. These ladies have sacrificed a lot in past months, having been through extensive training and camps to prepare,” commented General Manager and Sports Director Mike Tamayo, “we will continue to work closely with our riders and USA Cycling to help in any way possible to achieve their Olympic goals. We’ve successfully completed the first step on that Journey.”
The three Blue Train riders will be joined by Kimberly Geist and Jennifer Valente to challenge the World Championship team pursuit race on February 27th. The rest of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling team and staff will be cheering them on from road racing campaigns in South America, Asia, and Europe.
