UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team Women’s TTT Squad Takes 6th in World Championship
In Richmond, VA, the balance of UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team riders contested the 2015 UCI World Championship Team Time Trial, an event in which 6-rider squads represent their trade teams to complete a challenging and technical 38.8-kilometer course in a race against the clock. The goal for both men’s and women’s squads was to train hard and dial in equipment, resulting in the strongest performance possible on the World stage.
Women’s Sporting Director Rachel Heal commented, “The women rode really well. They were technically sound and pushed themselves right to their limit throughout the entire ride to finish in 6th place – a great result in a World Championship.” With strong competition from European-based teams, the men of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team also put in a respectable effort to earn 19th on the day, with a very good showing tactically and strategically. Tamayo added, “We saw some quick improvements in riding smooth as a team, but there is always more work to be done. It was a great way to wrap up the season in the U.S. with the World Championship race.”
