Travis McCabe Wins Stage 3 Herald Sun Tour – video
Travis McCabe brings in a huge win on stage 3 of the Herald Sun Tour, sprinting out of the bunch for the honor. Stage 3 saw Adrian Hegyvary make the day’s break away, easing some of the pressure on the team in the peloton. Delivering the fast man to the line became the goal of the day, and coming out of the final turns of a technical finish McCabe was that man.
“From the last 20 km the team took great care of me. Janier [Acevedo] took the last turn on the big road, putting Tanner [Putt] and Lachlan [Norris] in position to give me the right wheels to finish in the narrow last kilometer,” Said McCabe. In good spirits he described his win, “I jumped at 250 m to go, and I did not see anyone coming near me. Up to victory!!”
Hendrik Redant, sporting director said, “a great performance again of the whole team. Hegyvary did a great job in being in the break of the day, meanwhile we could focus on delivering a top-sprint! Boys worked very hard and Travis finished off perfectly!”
After two podium days in a row the team is looking forward to tomorrow’s final stage.
