Tvetcov and Haedo on podium at Tour de Korea
Serghei Tvetcov worked his way into a small breakaway group in the final kilometers of stage 1, and a strong kick pushed him 3rd place over the line at the finish in Cheonan.
“This is a good race of our guys, with some aggressive riding, and I think we’ll see some good results,” said Sporting Director Hendrik Redant after stage 1.
Sebastian Haedo sprinted to 3rd place on stage 2, in the huge bunch sprint in Yeongju.
Grabbing KOM points on stage 1, Alex Cataford wore the polka dot jersey at the end of the day.
After stage 2 Tvetcov holds 3rd overall on GC heading into the a hilly stage 3.
“With Sebastian Haedo we knew we would have a great opportunity to go for the stage-win in the sprint, so the team made a very fast pace for 50 km,” said Sporting Director Hendrik Redant.
The fast final kilometers the sprint really heated up and Haedo just missed out at the line, being out sprinted by Mihkel Raim (Isreal Cycling Academy) and Raymond Kreder (Team Ukyo).
