Rider Bio

Ruth Winder joined Team UnitedHealthcare in 2014 after a breakout 2013 season
with the Vanderkitten Racing Team. She earned best young rider honors at the
Parx Casino Philly Cycling Classic after finishing 15th overall and helped Mara
Abbott defend her overall title at the Giro Rosa with Team USA, which was
Winder’s first time at the Italian race. This 20-year-old’s racing career began
on the track, where she won several national titles, including the team pursuit
at the 2013 Elite Timed Track Nationals. At the 2013 Pan Am Continental
Championships, Winder and Lauren Tamayo were teammates in the team pursuit. On
the road, Winder has won the Land Park Criterium (2013), Tour of Somerville
(2012) and Cherry Pie Criterium (2012).

Born in the U.K., Winder moved to the United States when she was 7 years old.
She began racing as a junior on the track at the Hellyer County Park Velodrome
in San Jose when she was 14. She won her first national championship in the
17-18 7K Scratch Final at the 2010 USA Cycling Juniors Track Championship. In
addition to the track and road, this 21-year-old races mountain bikes.
